This course will offer aspiring artists the opportunity to further develop their skills with advanced printmaking methods. Artists will learn about contemporary printmaking methods that include non toxic etching, drypoint, chine colle, and collograh printing. Emphasis will be on prints that function as unique images. The Stone School printing press will be used.

Materials supplied with costs covered by Culture Outaouais and Emploi Quebec

Aluminum Etching Plates
Drypoint plates
Blotter-newsprint, registration sheet.
Non-Toxic Etching materials (copper sulphate, salt, spray paint, pledge ground, sos pads, foam brush, ammonia,
Collograph Materials
Clean up materials.

Materials to bring:
Available at Wallacks, Deserres, Above Ground and Curry’s Art supplies.

Rubber gloves, paper towel roll, wax paper roll.
Printmaking paper:

  • 5 to 7 sheets (22x30”) 250grm apprx- Suggested brands -BFK Rieves, Stonehenge, Sommerset, Arches Cover (for drypoint, etchings, and collagraphs)
  • Thin coloured and found papers for chine colle’

Various paint brushes
Sketchbook – 9x12” to 11”x14” 90LB proofing paper (the kind you can tear the paper out)
Acrylic gel medium
Marker and pencil.
Metal scriber or etching needle.
Mat board for Collagraphs
Additional Collagraph Materials (interesting found materials such as fabrics, dry plant materials, cardboard, string, etc..)
Most Printmaking tools will be supplied by the instructor but if you have any brayers/rollers, metal scriber, please bring them along.
