August 19 – September 11

Karen Goetzinger, collage
Wendy Feldberg, collage

Vernissage August 19, 6 - 8 pm

Textile and paper installations to stimulate reflection on edges—transitional spaces amidst natural elements marked by human habitation.

Karen Goetzinger
Fibre artist

Karen Goetzinger addresses the imprint of the urban landscape on individual memory by employing thread and paint on ethereal, ceiling-hung panels of pieced, printed and embroidered cotton organdy. Transparency and shadow thus become a metaphor for the projection of a unique imprint over transient elements, as “State of Transparency” summons the interplay of object and viewer, of individuals with their personal narratives and memories.

Wendy Feldberg
Textile art

Wendy Feldberg’s work with local plant pigments seeks to capture the fragile beauty of surrounding landscapes “on the edge”. Her embroidered and dye-printed textile panels, papers and bookworks convey a sense of mystery through complex layering of ephemeral plant colours and forms, drawing out marks and colours otherwise unseen by the naked eye and frequently referring to natural forms in danger of loss.
